Vets Urge Dog Owners To Vaccinate Against South Florida Dog Flu Outbreak

Veterinarians all across Florida are urging Dog owners to vaccinate their furry friends due to a highly contagious strain of canine influenza. There has been over a dozen cases of canine influenza reported across the state of Florida. If left untreated it can lead to  life-threatening pneumonia. We are writing this article to bring awareness to pet owners across the sunshine state.

The highly contagious virus causes frequent coughs, sneezes and runny noises that can last up to two weeks. Infected dogs can transmit the the virus up to 20 feet by sneezing or coughing. It is highly recommended for Dog owners to wash their leashes because the virus can survive up to 24 hours on surfaces.

The vaccine is essential for eventually stopping the spread of this contagious virus. It is recommended to speak to your vet immediately to help prevent the spread of the virus and to insure our pups are nice and safe.

Vets across South Florida are urging Dog owners to get vaccinated, so make sure you take the proper steps to help keep your pup healthy! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us.
